Pitching a Game

This week, my group and I have been focused on developing the idea for archetype defender (as it's currently being called). After our rounds of pitches in class, our group sat down to talk about which idea we wanted to develop. It was pretty quickly decided to take NIck's idea of a game where you protect an animal with an umbrella and make some tweaks.

We decided it'd be best for a portfolio piece if our game was 3D, (People don't seem to take 2D games as seriously anymore unless you come up with the next Hollow Knight). So from there we started talking about scope. We wanted to make it first person to avoid having to animate our main character and that way we could focus more on environmental storytelling. We kept the original idea of protecting an animal with an umbrella, but we decided to go in a slightly different direction, aiming for a more atmospheric puzzle game about keeping out of the acid rain and protecting a turtle at all costs.
